bullet

Count the penguins; how many penguins are there?

bullet

What colour are the penguins?

bullet

Give each penguin a name.

bullet

Which is the tallest penguin?

bullet

Which is the heaviest penguin?

bullet

What sort of animals are penguins? – After the class have given answers - tell them they are birds.

bullet

Can penguins fly?  -  take a vote – talk about penguins “flying” underwater.

bullet

What do penguins eat?

bullet

Hide the penguins and have a penguin hunt.

bullet

Have a penguin walk - explain that Emperor penguins have to carry their eggs and babies on their feet.  This is not an easy task.  Have the students take off their shoes and try to walk around with an egg shaped ball of Play-doh.  (You may want to have the eggs put in plastic bags so they don't get squished onto the floor or carpet.)  Then have them race across the room to get a gummi krill.  (Use gummi worms)

Ask for penguin jokes – here are some from biscuit packs in the UK.
