Do penguins have ears?Penguins do indeed have excellent hearing, they communicate with one another through their calls. For example, a king penguin chick can recognise its own parents calls above the noise of many thousands of birds and similarly the parents find their own chicks amongst the huge creches from the sound of their cries. Penguins ears have no external flaps - they are inside the head with just a small hole that is scarcely visible behind the eyes connecting the inner ear to the outside.
