Where they can be seen

How to get there

King, Gentoo, Magellanic, Rockhopper and Macaroni There are many colonies on many of the islands. Probably the most famous is the King colony at Volunteer Point not far from Port Stanley.

If you only have time to visit one island, then Sea Lion Island is good for penguins. There are large colonies of Gentoos, Magellanics and Rockhoppers here. You can walk around the entire island in one day, and you can stay at the comfortable Sea Lion Lodge. You can also see Striated Caracara here as well as a lot of other seabirds and marine wildlife.

The RAF fly passengers from the UK to Port Stanley. There is also a service from Santiago. Full details of how to get to the Falklands are available from the Falkland Islands Tourist Office. You can also get to the Falklands on many of the cruise ships that operate to the Antarctic Peninsula. See our Tour Operators page for details

Once you get to Port Stanley, it is easy to book flights around the islands with FIGAS (it's a bit like a taxi service!).
