King, Chinstrap, Gentoo and Macaroni There are many colonies around the island  You can only get to South Georgia by ship. Many of the cruise ships that operate to the Antarctic Peninsula also visit South Georgia - but usually only once or twice a year. See our Tour Operators page for details.
